"Regulatory Czar" Cass Sunstein

Name: Cass R. Sunstein
Official Title: Administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs
Better Known As: The “Regulatory Czar”

While Cass Sunstein is undoubtedly a very bright individual (having graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he now teaches) the extreme positions he takes on many issues suggest that his motivations are more than slightly misguided. Among other things, Sunstein recommends that animals have the right to testify in court. As “Regulatory Czar,” Sunstein is primarily concerned with making sure that our freedom of speech fulfills an adequate level of diversity.

His past studies in behavioral economics have led him to advocate “libertarian paternalism” wherein the government steers people into making decisions that are ultimately in their best interests (“best interests” being a subjective term, of course).

In His Own Words:

“In what sense is the money in our pockets and bank accounts fully ‘ours’?”

“Rights to private property, freedom of speech, immunity from police abuse, contractual liberty and free exercise of religion–just as much as rights to Social Security, Medicare and food stamps–are taxpayer-funded and government-managed social services designed to improve collective and individual well-being.”

“Under our proposal, the word marriage would no longer appear in any laws, and marriage licenses would no longer be offered or recognized by any level of government.”
